Guaco Choco Smoothie + The Newest Babe In Plantland

Before I changed my diet, you have no idea how many times I said “PASS” on any smoothie recipe that had an avocado in it. I think I thought it would taste like guacamole in a glass or something. And as much as I love guacamole, drinking a glass of it is not my style. And let’s stop talking about it, it’s actually making me sick.

But when I did finally decide to try an avocado smoothie, it was pretty perfect. Depending on what you pair with it, you don’t actually taste much avocado. It just helps bring it all together – and makes the whole thing more creamy, more dreamy, and more rich.

Now that I’m on Team Avocado, I was really excited when Live Lynnette’s Lynnette Astaire shared this recipe with me. She’s a juicing and blending queen – and not to mention a total BABE. Juicing + a babe? You know what that means! Meet Lynnette Astaire, 2015’s first Babe In Plantland. Read all about her and then grab her Guaco Choco Smoothie recipe below!

Name: Lynnette Astaire

Sign: Libra

Relationship Status (with plants): I’d say I’m married to the game at this point.

Turn ons (food related): Sugar

Turn offs: (food related): Bitter

Chicago? Mexico? You’re everywhere. Where exactly do you live? Well, for the sake of homeland security, I’m going to say that I live in the States but spend quite a lot of time in Mexico.

Favorite veggie to juice: Cucumber, because I get the most juice out of them!

Veggie thats makes you say “eeeeeew”: I have a big texture problem with chia seeds. Yeah, they are good for you and all – but the mouth feel drives me crazy.

#1 tip to a juice newbie: Read my juice guide, Forever 21!

Go-to cookbook for inspiration: Instagram. I could easily troll on there for hours.

Restaurant you want to planticize (offer a juice or smoothie option): McDonald’s, of course. The least they could do if they are going to be all over the earth (and airports) is give the people a decent smoothie option.

Quote that inspires you: Now playing: “easy to create, harder to maintain.” Spending most of my life in the art world has made me a serious creator, so this quote helps to keep me balanced.

Now, Lynette’s recipe!

Chocolate-Mint-Smoothie

{ Guaco Choco }
   by Lynnette Astaire

10 oz almond milk (about a cup and a half)
1/2 small avocado
2 tablespoons cacoa power
1 tablespoon mint
Sweetener of choice

Blend all ingredients in a blender. If you’ve got time, freeze the avocado ahead of time for an even better treat.
